Toi Alexzandria - The Importance of Professionalism

Encouraging Improvement
Those who dress and present themselves in a professional manner are more likely to feel better about themselves when they go to work. This allows them to offer a superior level of service to any clients that they work with. By insisting on professionalism you encourage improvement in yourself and your employees, which is reflected in the way that others perceive your business.
Minimizing Conflict
Conflict is something that will often occur in the business world, but maintaining a professional demeanor allows you to handle the situation in a way that allows for a resolution. As such, it is important to remain calm and remove emotion from the equation during your business dealings, allowing you to make rational decisions in addition to reducing conflict with fellow workers.
Creating Respect
Toi Alexzandria understands that one of the reasons she has been so successful in the fashion industry is that the level of professionalism she displays generates a certain level of respect amongst those she works with. Conducting yourself in an improper manner when in a business setting causes people to make a judgment about you. A lack of respect from your peers can mean that fewer work opportunities are made available to you.
Toi Alexzandria - The Detroit Institute of Arts
In 2014 Toi Alexzandria had the great pleasure of working with Bruce Weber, acting as the face of his exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). Thanks to that experience, she has a renewed appreciation for what the DIA brings to the area and would like to shine a spotlight on the institution in the hope that more people take the time to visit if they are in the Detroit area.

The History
The DIA has hosted exhibitions in Detroit for more than a century, having first been founded in 1885. In its formative years it was located at Jefferson Avenue, but as its collection began to grow it moved to Woodward Avenue in 1927 to take advantage of a larger site.
Since the move, the building has been expanded on a number of occasions. Two additional wings were added in the 1960s and 70s, with additional expansion being completed in 2007. Today the DIA plays host to more than a hundred galleries.
Diversity
One of the most interesting things about the DIA is the level of diversity on display in its many collections. Visitors are able to see exhibits that date back to prehistory, mingled with other displays that highlight the creativity of today’s artists. Furthermore, it also hosts an array of special exhibitions that offer artists the opportunity to express themselves and find an audience amongst the many people who visit annually.
Toi Alexzandria worked with Bruce Weber on one such exhibit and was astounded by just how much can be learned by wandering the many display rooms hosted at the DIA.
Toi Alexzandria - The Joys Of Travelling
During the course of her modeling career, Toi Alexzandria had the opportunity to experience a wide range of cultures thanks to her travelling schedule. She is still a great believer in the joys of travelling the world and recommends that everybody should take the time to head outside their comfort zone in order to experience cultures that they would never have the opportunity to explore in their everyday life.

Ridding Yourself of Prejudice
In some ways it is human nature to be wary of what we don’t know, which is why taking the leap and experiencing new cultures can often be a little intimidating. However, by doing it you give yourself the opportunity to learn about a way of life that you are unfamiliar with, which allows you to rid yourself of any pre-conceived notions you may have held before seeing things for yourself.
The Food
Food is one of the great joys in life and travelling affords you the opportunity to eat foods that are not commonly available elsewhere in the world. There are few things that top the sheer joy of discovering a local delicacy that scintillates the taste buds. If you’re a foodie, travelling allows you to broaden your horizons and discover new meals.
Business Opportunities
As a business owner, Toi Alexzandria understands the importance of taking advantage of every situation to provide yourself with new business opportunities. As travelling offers you the opportunity to meet new people, you also have the chance to network and create business opportunities that will serve you well when you get back home.
Toi Alexzandria - Creating Great Photos
Having spent around eight years of her career working as a model, Toi Alexzandria has come to understand exactly what makes a picture sparkle. She has a number of tips for aspiring models, or those who just want to take a good photo.
Angles
The way that you angle your head can create an intriguing photo, as it allows for the use of shadow. A direct face shot eliminates this and, while it can make for an interesting picture in its own right, should be avoided unless you are being shot by a professional. Instead, stand sideways and tilt you chin either up or down to create a striking pose.

Group Photos
If you’re aiming to stand out in a group photo, the key is striking a pose that separates you from everybody else. This could be a simple and subtle twist of the body, a hand on the hip or even facing in a different direction to everybody else. The important thing is that you stand out, so the eye is instantly drawn to you above everyone else.
Proportion
A simple rule for any photograph is that whatever is closest to the camera is going to look larger. As such, you should be wary of an arm of leg taking away from the focus of the main picture if it is not intended to be what draws the viewer’s eye.
Toi Alexzandria believes that understanding proportion and combining that knowledge with the right angles allows for photos that highlight your best features to be taken.
Toi Alexzandria - The Benefits of Online Dating
As Toi Alexzandria knows, dating can be a complicated process at times; but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be fun at all times. Getting out and meeting new people can be a very fulfilling experience that connects you with another human being, even if the date doesn’t end in a forever deal. Luckily, with the development of internet dating sites has come a different type of dating that is even more enjoyable for the single people out there. Below are some of the benefits to online dating.

Online Profiles
One of the benefits of online dating is that it completely rids you of any “blind date” worries by providing you with a profile of the person you are going to meet. These profiles usually include pictures and details about the person’s job, interests and more. These things allow you the ability to make a more informed decision as to whether you would want to date this person or not.
Filtering
Because of online profiles, you can also apply filters in who you look for. So if you are looking for someone who is the same age as you, for example, you can set your filters to only see people who are your age. Some sites even filter your profile from others being able to see it, which saves you from getting any unwelcome or misinformed inquiries.

Below are some of the secrets behind Toi’s salon success.

Experience
Toi has been a model for Vogue; and has also spent lots of tie doing runway shows for various fashion items. Her experience in front of a camera and on a runway is relevant to her cosmetics experience because not only did she get to work with some of the best makeup artists in the industry, but she also has been able to gain a seasoned perspective on what people like to see in a model. This experience helps her implement those strategies on her clients to make them look outstanding.

With the spirit of a true entrepreneur, Toi was able to get her business started completely on her own; and is now proud to say that the clientele that walk through her door tend to become loyal customers who come back for more.
Toi Alexzandria - The Demands of Modeling
As a model who has spent time on the runway as well as in the studio, being the subject of shoots for major publications such as Vogue, Toi Alexzandria has spent plenty of time in front of the camera; and she knows that the job demands when in a shoot as well as during the off-time. Below are some aspects of model life that often go unnoticed by those admiring as well as aspiring-to-be models.

A Strict Diet
Modeling can be tough on the body in many ways, but none so much as the diet that keeps models at a particular weight and figure that is demanded by their sponsors.
A Rigorous Exercise Routine
Rigorous exercise is also something that many models have to do in order to stay toned for their shoots. Since modeling is a field that is so competitive about appearances, models must look their best in order to stay ahead of those looking to replace them.
A Conservative Lifestyle
Professional models don’t get much time to have fun because they are so busy in front of the camera. But even when they do, they have to be cautious about whatever they eat, drink or choose to do as recreational activity. In order to preserve their looks they are obligated to live a lifestyle that is free of any potential threats to their appearances.
Toi Alexzandria - The Perfect Makeup Job
Toi Alexzandria has spent lots of time on the runway as well as in photo shoots for major publications. All this time in front of the camera has given her a strong sense of what people look for not only in fashion, but also in makeup. Now as a makeup salon owner in Southfield, MI she brings that experience and knowledge to the studio and makes her clients looks fabulous through putting together the perfect combination of the following components:.jpg?timestamp=1443770167565)
Eyeliner
In order to accentuate your eyes and bring out that shimmering color, a good eye makeup job will create contrast with your eyes and bring extra attention to their most complementing features. Shadow is also a great feature to add at times if you are feeling like adding a little more flare to your makeup job.
Lips
After the eyes are taken care of, lipstick will be the next most important feature. Depending on the occasion in which you are getting dolled up for, sometimes a traditional shade of red is in order or something even more festive. Either way, Toi Alexzandria will surely help you find the best combo to bring out your best features.
Toi Alexzandria - The Essentials of Cosmetics
There are so many ways in which you can enhance your image; and the more you know about cosmetics, the more it becomes apparent which ones grab the attention of others the most. Below are the three essentials of cosmetics that should be the focus of your style.

Makeup
Makeup has been a common practice for centuries. People use makeup to highlight the most flattering features of their faces, while also helping the definition of their faces by covering any blemishes or other such imperfections. Makeup can be done with a combination of many different products, such as lipstick, mascara, eyeliner and more work to cosmeticize the face and give it accent.
Hair
Depending on the intensity of each studio job, hair can at times take the most time to get perfect. With all the different types of hair and unique scalps that Toi Alexzandria has worked on, she knows how complex the hair dilemma can be at times; but that doesn’t keep her from producing superb work that holds its figure and shines.
Fashion
Now that hair and makeup are done, the fashion aspect will help you decorate the rest of your body. People with good fashion sense know how to really grab the attention of others in a flattering manner.

Toi Alexzandria - Choosing the Right Shampoo
As a seasoned makeup artist and hair stylist, Toi Alexzandria has been running her own studio for years. She has worked with a variety of different hair styles and scalps, which has led her to the conclusion that all heads and hair textures are different, and should be treated as so. This starts with finding the right shampoo that best compliments the features of your own scalp and hair. Below are some tips as to how one can choose the best shampoo for their hair.

Check Hair Moisture Levels
Is your hair often moist or greasy, or dry and flaky? If you are unsure which category you would fall into, there are a few simple ways you can test the moisture levels in your hair. Perhaps the simplest way f doing this is to vigorously run your hands through your hair in a shaking motion. If any flakes fall and stick to your shoulders, that is dandruff; which is a prime indicator of a dry scalp. On the other hand, if your hand is moist or greasy after running it through your hair, then maybe you should look into shampoos that are less focused on moisture and more on volume and other such factors.
Quality Matters
Treating your hair well is not a task that goes unrewarded. Which is why when you buy cheap shampoos and conditioners, you get exactly what you pay for. Treat your hair to something nice, and you will be much happier with the outcome.
Toi Alexzandria - Cozumel
During her time traveling overseas as an international model, Toi Alexzandria visited many areas along the Caribbean Sea that are known for their exotic appeal. Cozumel, Mexico is one of these locations. A port city for cruise ships as well as a popular location for a single-destination getaway, there are many things to love about Cozumel. Below are some of the things that most visitors engage in while here.

The Beaches
The thing that makes Cozumel such a popular spring break destination is its beaches. The royal blue waters of the Caribbean wash ashore their scenic beaches, where swimmers can go take a dip in clear, bath-like water that makes it a prime location for sunbathing while in the water.
Food
Mexican food is a staple of the country’s culture that resonates throughout the globe, as their delicious creations become more and more popular in the international arena. You can get quality Mexican food all over Cozumel that goes beyond the staples that are often enclosed in tortillas. The history and variety of Mexican food is far deeper than what you will see on the menu in many Mexican restaurants around the globe, so it is best to expand your horizons while you are here.
Nightlife
Most spring break destinations are labeled as so for two reasons: their beaches, and their nightlife. Cozumel delivers on both, and offers a vibrant nightlife for those who are looking to go dance and have some fun until the sun comes up.

“Detroit)—The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) has partnered with Condé Nast to present an exhibition of around 80 photographs by celebrated fashion photographer and filmmaker Bruce Weber, on view at the DIA from June 20 to Sept. 7. Detroit—Bruce Weber captures the rich culture of Detroit through striking, often intimate images of the city’s people and places. The exhibition is organized by the Detroit Institute of Arts and presented in collaboration with Condé Nast.
“We are delighted that Condé Nast is honoring Detroit and its vibrant art scene with this exciting exhibition,” said Graham W. J. Beal, DIA director. “Bruce Weber’s images beautifully capture the spirit of the people who make up this city.”
Since 2006, Weber has found the city and its citizens a source of inspiration, and his affinity for Detroit is evident in the dozens of images on view. Among them are portraits of activist Grace Lee Boggs, R&B legend Aretha Franklin, the Detroit chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen and everyday Detroiters who embody the essence of the city. Well-known Detroit locations, such as the Kronk Gym, Belle Isle Park and the Raven nightclub are also featured.”
Toi Alexzandria was excited to be part of such a significant event in the art history of her area as well as our country.
